Twitter/Facebook hackers

What is the point of hackers and spammers messing with Twitter and Facebook? What could a person possibly get out of screwing up innocent social networking websites? I just don't get it. Are these dorks just sitting at home in their pajamas laughing and calling all of their dork friends to say...guess what I did today? I just don't get it...have a life people. Do something productive that can help instead of hurt.
